Synopsis

The Year my Voice Broke is a 1960s coming of age story set in a small rural town about an awkward Australian teenager, Danny (Noah Taylor), who falls in love with his best friend Freya (Loene Carmen) who has a crush on the local bad boy (Ben Mendelsohn).

Braidwood is an historical town in NSW's southern tablelands. For more information, see http://www.visitbraidwood.com.au/. It is also a shooting location for Flirting (1991), which is the sequel to The Year my Voice Broke, and other films including Ned Kelly (1970) and Dad and Dave: On Our Selection (1995).

Shooting Locations

180 Wallace Street, Braidwood, Capital Country, New South Wales

The Braidwood Hotel at 180 Wallace Street is the exterior filming location for the hotel in the film. Until 2004 it was known as the Commercial Hotel.
